Biography

Often cited as an unlucky number, 13 should have proved such for the Northampton, Massachusetts-based darkwave band Era Nocturna. Yet as it so happens the number has turned out to be anything but unlucky as they roll into their 13th year in existence this coming December.
Taking their influences from bands like Nine Inch Nails, Covenant, Curve, Portishead, and lending a heavier and darker nod to bands of the New Wave era of the 80s, the core of Era Nocturna is formed of front woman/programmer/multi-instrumentalist Dae Noctem who formed the band in 1999 and drummer/programmer/guitarist Shaun Sloat who joined Noctem in 2010. Initially Sloat's presence had been intended to flesh out live performances as, up to this time, Noctem had been working solo in the studio for the entirety of the project's history but once the duo realized their shared vision, they agreed working together full-time on the project made sense.
By 2011, Era Nocturna had performed their first live show to an eager audience in Providence, Rhode Island and the momentum generated from that first gig began to propel them forward. By the end of the same year the band had performed in three different states, had as many line up changes, and had already begun to record the follow up to the 2008 release "Lackluster."
In the current year of 2012, Era Nocturna continues work on the album now tentatively called "Sever" and is actively booking live shows in Western, Mass and has had the pleasure of performing with regional and international artists. In addition they are forming the Inferi Arts Collective which will include bands, multimedia artists, and more and hopes to bring about a sense of community in the artistic scene in Massachusetts.
